To help disseminate research that shows the need for good writing strategies and direct, explicit instruction, I have compiled a variety of documents and websites that provide academic researchers and/or users of the Step Up to Writing program with additional information.
These documents are relevant in many ways: they show the connection between the underlying philosophies of Step Up and the academic research currently being conducted in literacy, 21st century skills, English language learners, and more; they reinforce the need for multisensory strategies like the ones taught in Step Up; and they demonstrate the importance of a strategic, school-wide approach to literacy improvement. |
